Precision Refrigeration has now given away around £40,000 worth of equipment in its campaign to donate fridges to registered charities.

Norwich catering enterprise The Feed is among the latest recipients and will use the donated fridge to support people in food poverty by storing and sharing food that would otherwise go to waste. It is estimated that 1.9 million tonnes of food is wasted by the food industry every year in the UK, with 250,000 tonnes still being edible.*

The Feed provides supported work experience in its catering enterprise and social café to people who face barriers to employment, helping them to access sustainable employment to be able to lead more fulfilling lives.

“It’s donations like this that make a huge difference to the services we provide to our clients” says Lucy Parish from The Feed. “We are delighted that we can have our very own first community fridge to benefit everyone.”

Christine Hartshorne, Marketing Manager at Precision Refrigeration, said: “Like many other manufacturers Precision had a number of ‘nearly new’ products that were in perfectly good order, but couldn’t be sold as new, and needed a home. The Feed is a great social enterprise that can really change so many people’s lives. Supporting charities like The Feed is important to Precision and the wider community we all live in.

"So far, Precision has donated around £40k worth of products to good causes over the last three months as part of this promotional campaign. We look forward to hearing many more great life stories from our friends at The Feed, and hope that this fridge donation helps the team in this quest. Many thanks again to R&P Distribution for delivering this unit free of charge.”
