A-Gas has taken another big step on its global journey to drive continuous improvement and strengthen its culture of operational excellence. After rolling out the Business Excellence (BEx) programme in the US and the Netherlands, the initiative has now officially launched in the UK.

This new phase is set to further enhance how teams collaborate to deliver outstanding outcomes for customers, colleagues, and the planet.

Understanding Business Excellence

BEx is a structured framework built to embed Lean thinking across the organisation. Its aim is to create consistent, streamlined processes that reduce waste, grow capability, and keep the customer at the centre of every decision.

By introducing proven tools and behaviours, teams are empowered to problem-solve, drive improvements, and take responsibility for achieving great results each day.

Why it matters for the UK

Introducing BEx into UK operations builds on the progress already achieved throughout the wider A-Gas Group. The focus is on aligning best practices, sharing successes, and unlocking even greater value across all sites.

Drawing on lessons from the US and Netherlands launches, A-Gas’ UK teams are being trained in Lean fundamentals, supported by the Lean Competency System (formerly part of Cardiff University). The journey begins with Lean Thinking: Level 1A in the Business Excellence Academy, equipping employees with a shared language and practical skills to deliver real improvements from the outset.
