Glasgow-based refrigeration experts, Star Refrigeration, has launched a photo challenge to celebrate Women in Engineering Day.

Referendum Day (23rd June) was a big day for the UK and for women who work in engineering. Not only were people voting, they were celebrating the growing number of women who have decided to embark upon a career in the broad field of engineering through the 'National Women in Engineering Day.
In the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump industry, Jane Gartshore was named on the Daily Telegraph's Top 50 Women in Engineering, who is widely recognised as an authority on sustainability.

The ACR Journal celebrates women in our industry through our 'Women in ACR' column each month and teamed up with the IoR recently to support the 'Women in RACHP' networking group. Star Refrigeration employee, Sarah Cooper was the first interviewee in the series.

The company has organised a photo challenge to highlight the diversity of ways in which refrigeration and heating enhance our lives.

By doing so, Star Refrigeration aims to show the world the rich variety of heating and cooling and change perceptions among women about the industry. Most adults and children do not understand how refrigeration improves their lives daily.

Rules for the competition:

Contest media: To enter the challenge, share your photos or short videos by 6 October 2016 at 08:00 am using the hashtag #CoolCareers on Twitter and/or Instagram.

Show Star Refrigeration what refrigeration means to you including the cool people, places and moments that warm your heart as a tribute to the industry. Be as creative as you like.

Winners: The winner will receive an iWatch. The winner will be selected by a judging panel from Star Refrigeration.

On 13 October 2016 we’ll announce the winner and feature the most popular submissions on www.coolcareers.org.uk – think of it as an online museum of freeze frames and cold cuts!
