Samsung upgrades commercial splits

20 October 2017
Samsung has updated its commercial split system line-up, replacing all previous models in the range.

The new offering incorporates the Samsung DVM (VRF) communication protocol, enabling full integration with VRF controls and accessories without the need for additional interfaces.

The use of Samsung’s 360 Cassette has played a key role on transforming the corporate facilities at Eastleigh Football Club in Hampshire.

Contractor Freedom Air Conditioning and mechanical engineering service Royston Group  were commissioned by the club to work on a new facility which can host up to 200 guests on the first floor of Silverlake Stadium.

Freedom recommended the 360 Cassette to complement the modern design. It has the ability to change the direction of the air flow and can also distribute air to different sections of a room, eliminating dead zones.

The club also wanted to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ status for the building and the energy efficiency of the Samsung solution installed was instrumental in achieving this rating.

The Samsung heat recovery air conditioning system chosen not only provides the heating and cooling requirements of the new development but, via a new Samsung Hydrobox incorporated into the system, also delivers all of the domestic hot water needs of the facility. In total four products were installed: Samsung 360 Cassette (circular facia), Samsung 360 Cassette (square facia), Samsung VRF (DVM S) Hydro Unit (HT) and Samsung DVM S Heat Recovery condensing unit.

Craig Beisley, Project Manager at Royston Group, said: “The design of the Samsung 360 Cassette was the determining factor for this application. The high-performance air delivery pattern provides an even distribution of air within the room and its integration into a modern environment was paramount for the requirements of Eastleigh Football Club to create a comfortable space for its fans.”

Freedom Director Gary Spicer said: “We have been supplying Samsung units for 15 years and Eastleigh Football Club were very happy with the finished solution.”
The range features 23 units, with 10 styles of indoor models and 13 outdoor units with capacities from 2.5kW to 25kW. This allows for 47 different system combinations and Samsung says the built-in flexibility has reduced the SKU quantity, whilst increasing the options available.

In addition, the indoor and outdoor units are fully compatible, allowing for a comprehensive line-up of twin, triple and quad split systems from 7kW to 25kW. The 20kW and 25kW outdoor units have a side blow design, allowing them to fit into restricted plant spaces, and the 10kW and 12kW outdoor units are now available in a single fan configuration.

Andrew Faulkner, Commercial Manager of Air Conditioning, said: “At Samsung we endeavour to provide the very best products and services for our customers. With the new Commercial Split System range, the SEER & SCOP efficiencies have been enhanced to ensure our products remain as energy efficient as possible for the end user.”
