The Institute of Refrigeration (IOR) has paid tribute to past president Dr Guy Hundy, who died on January 2 aged 79.

Dr Hundy began his career with a technical apprenticeship at J&E Hall and later worked in technical roles in Prestcold, Copeland and Emerson. Throughout his 50-year career, he was instrumental in the development of scroll compressor technology and heat pump efficiency.

Dr Hundy served as president of the IOR from 2004-07 and also shared his knowledge by writing technical papers for the IOR and International Institute of Refrigeration. He was awarded the IOR Lightfoot Medal for best paper five times and was also active in FETA, chairing technical committees.
