The Institute of Refrigeration has announced that two members have been appointed as Fellows for 2026, in recognition of their contribution to the RACHP sector.
The appointments were confirmed at the IOR Annual Dinner. The individuals recognised have been involved in a range of areas across the industry, including skills development, technical work and international activity.
Andrew Channon FInstR
Andrew Channon, founder of a specialist training company, has worked with City & Guilds on the development and enhancement of a number of courses. His training centre was among the first in the UK to adopt the Trailblazer Apprenticeships framework.
Channon has also supported the IOR through its education and training activities and is expected to continue contributing in these areas as part of his role as a Fellow.
Richard Lawton FInstR
Richard Lawton is a member of the UN Technical Options Committee and Convenor for TC104 Refrigerated Containers. He is associated with Cambridge Refrigeration Technology and has authored several technical papers for the IOR.
He has been active within International Institute of Refrigeration committees, including serving as President of Commission D, and has contributed to the IOR’s International Committee and the International Cold Chain Conferences.
Fellowship process
Fellows are invited to support IOR initiatives, including technical presentations and participation in working groups and committees.
Each February, the IOR Membership Committee reviews nominations for Fellowship, assessing personal statements and supporting references. Further information about IOR membership and the nomination process is available via the Institute’s website.
