The Institute of Refrigeration's Women in RACHP Network (WiRACHP) held a practical engineering day to mark International Women’s Day.

Hosted by Business Edge in Waterlooville, the event included an overview of air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pump systems as well as a hands-on session where participants were invited to try their hand at brazing and safe handling of flammable refrigerants.

Karen Perry, chair of the WiRACHP, said: “The growth of the network has helped us to increase our contacts and promote the careers of women in the RACHP network. The more people we are able to talk to about the shortage of females and the need for greater diversity, the more people recognise it and jump on board to help spread the word and create ideas to attract more women to the industry or support them within it.“
