Elta Trade has unveiled a new weatherproof subfloor ventilation unit designed to protect buildings from hidden moisture problems and improve indoor air quality.

Subfloor spaces are often overlooked, especially in properties with suspended timber floors or enclosed voids. But without adequate airflow, these areas can quickly become vulnerable to moisture build-up, condensation, mould growth, wood rot, and even harmful gases such as radon. Over time, these hidden problems can lead to serious structural damage and even impact the health of occupants.

The manufacturer says the Mori WMF has been engineered to deliver consistent, mechanical airflow to ensure stale, humid air is extracted effectively, even in enclosed voids where natural movement is limited.

The updated model delivers improved airflow performance, providing up to 17 L/s for effective moisture control, with its brushless IP55 EC motor ensuring low running costs, said to be typically less than £9 per year. A weatherproof design allows it to be mounted outside, removing the need to enter tight or damp subfloor areas.

"Subfloor ventilation is one of those details that can make or break the long-term health of a building," says Nick Higgs, National Manager of Elta Trade. "The Mori WMF gives installers and homeowners a reliable, easy-to-fit solution that prevents costly problems before they start.
Traditionally, subfloor ventilation relied on natural airflow through air bricks or vents, but with modern houses being made more and more well insulated and airtight, natural ventilation alone isn't always enough.''
