Aermec is sponsoring Paul Gates of BASICS Essex

Aermec UK is backing an initiative which helps enable volunteer medical professionals – doctors and paramedics – to support medical emergency response across Essex.

Aermec decided to contribute as the BASICS Essex 'Sponsor a Clinician’ programme relies solely on corporate sponsorship to support a growing team of volunteer clinicians who are on call at the request of the East of England Ambulance Service. The service works alongside and supplements the work done by ambulance clinicians.

Lucy Hutchins, Aermec’s UK's Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Manager, said: "Unlike other programmes that focus on equipment or infrastructure, this initiative directly supports volunteer clinicians, enabling them to dedicate their expertise where it's needed most."

Aermec has pledged to sponsor Paul Gates, BASICS Essex Chair and Critical Care Paramedic Volunteer Responder, for £1,000 per year for two years. He said: “The team and I are incredibly grateful to Aermec UK for their generous support and for helping us continue to deliver critical pre-hospital care to those who need it most.''

BASICS Essex has responded to over 700 emergency call-outs in the past five years. These include road traffic accidents, cardiac arrests and other critical incidents. In many instances the team arrives before ambulance crews and provides life-saving care.
