The Air Conditoning and Refrigeration European Association (AREA), which represents air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pump contractors across Europe and beyond, has welcomed two new member associations. AEFYT from Spain and TRA from Thailand joined at the spring  2017 General Assembly in Amsterdam.

AEFYT is the Spanish association representing companies in the cooling and refrigeration industry, including contractors. After an introductory meeting at the end of 2016, they had been granted temporary membership by the Board from  January onwards.

AEFYT President Roberto Solsona Caballer said: “AREA and AEFYT share common interests and objectives such as cohesion, collaboration, distribution of information and contact between national and international associations to achieve the development of refrigeration techniques and professional certifications.”
The Thailand Refrigeration Association (TRA) met with AREA delegates at the last Chillventa exhibition in October 2016. TRA becomes the first AREA International Observer – a new membership category created a year ago to enable non-European refrigeration and air conditioning engineers associations to join AREA and enjoy membership benefits at a low contribution.

AREA President Per Jonasson said: “I am very proud to see AREA continuing to grow, as it certainly shows the value of our organisation. AEFYT is a strong association that, together with CNI, will reinforce our representation in Spain. TRA is our first International Observer and we hope others will follow soon.''

Established in 1988, AREA now represents the interests of 25 national members with a membership of more than 13,000 companies, employing around 110,000 people and with a turnover approaching € 23 billion.
