Renewable Energy Warehouse (REW) has officially opened its new showroom and training facility in Kings Norton, Birmingham, to drive heat pump adoption across the Midlands through education and hands-on demonstrations.
The state-of-the-art facility at Savoy Works on Pershore Road opened at the end of November, showcasing live, working Daikin heat pump systems as well as the compelling case for low-carbon heating.
The launch event welcomed installers, specifiers, and homeowners to explore the dedicated Daikin display area and experience working heat pump demonstrations. The facility represents a significant resource for installers expanding their renewable heating capabilities, providing technical support, product specification guidance, and hands-on training opportunities as demand for heat pump installations accelerates.
For installers navigating the transition from traditional heating systems, the showroom offers real-world demonstrations of installation requirements, system integration with existing heating infrastructure, and direct access to Daikin's product specialists. This practical support is critical as the UK phases out gas boilers in new builds and retrofit demand continues to grow.
Karen Perry, Head of Residential Distribution at Daikin UK, commented: "Heat pumps hold immense potential for slashing energy consumption and home bills. A Daikin heat pump could save a typical four-bedroom property over £110 a year in running costs compared with a gas boiler, over £191 a year compared with an oil boiler, or over £723 a year compared with an LPG boiler.
"If homeowners switched to a heat pump tariff, which are now offered by many energy providers, the running costs savings could easily be three times as much. For example, on a leading-rate heat pump tariff of 14p per kWh, could save around £520 a year in running costs compared with a gas boiler, over £650 a year in running costs compared with an oil boiler, or over £1,182 a year compared with an LPG boiler."
With research revealing that 68 percent of homeowners are unaware of heat pump efficiency advantages, the facility aims to bridge this vast education gap. Perry added: "Our studies reveal that many homeowners are unaware of the significantly higher energy efficiency of heat pumps over gas boilers. While gas boilers operate at 70-90 percent efficiency, heat pumps soar between 300-400 percent. There is an essential need to educate homeowners about heat pump technology, and the Renewable Energy Warehouse and showroom and our Sustainable Home Centres offer the ideal platform for such endeavours."
Spencer Bell, Managing Director of Renewable Energy Warehouse, emphasised the company's role in supporting the renewable transition: "As the UK strives to meet its net zero targets, we recognise that the Renewable Energy Warehouse is the perfect partner for homeowners, landlords, architects, and installers looking to expand their knowledge and begin their journey toward a renewable future. With our highly trained staff, we can offer impartial advice and support our customers on their journey to install the correct renewable solution to suit their property and requirements."
REW’s long-standing partnership with Daikin, is strengthened by Daikin's specialised training facilities and offices in Birmingham, making them an ideal local partner for the Renewable Energy Warehouse. The showroom is open to homeowners, businesses, architects, installers, and trade professionals by appointment. Free parking is available at the facility.
