The Daikin Altherma 3 M uses R32 refrigerant
Daikin is launching the Altherma 3 M, its first monobloc heat pump using R32 refrigerant.
Daikin believes consumers will appreciate its compact and improved design, as the Altherma 3 M requires only an outdoor unit that can fit under a window. This is because it has only one fan, while its predecessor needed two fans.
The use of R32 refrigerant reduces the environmental impact of the heat pump by 75% and needs 30% less refrigerant charge compared to R410A, which was used by its predecessor. With a lower Global Warming Potential (GWP), it also achieves higher energy efficiency and lower CO2 emissions.
Patrick Crombez, General Manager Heating and Renewables at Daikin, said: “We decided to deploy the R32 refrigerant in our new Daikin Altherma 3 M heat pump because we know its benefit for the environment. We are a pioneer in launching heat pumps equipped with R32, but this is the first monobloc equipped with this refrigerant. R32 is the perfect solution for attaining the new European CO2 emission targets. Together with its innovative compact size, this heat pump can easily be installed in every European home.”
The Altherma 3 M is also connected to the updated version of the Daikin Residential Controller app. Users can manage their heating and cooling systems from their smartphone at home or remotely. The app includes intuitive functions such as a programme to schedule temperature and operation mode, a control function for all heating and/or cooling units and a monitoring feature for an overview of performance and energy consumption. The renewed version of the app also has a voice control feature with assistants such as Amazon Alexa.
