Gav Murray, Home Heating Director at Hive, comments on the Boiler Upgrade Scheme figures for August. He said: “While August’s applications may have levelled off, the year-on-year growth still highlights a steady shift towards low-carbon heating technologies and shows the appetite is there, it just needs accelerating.
“The upcoming Warm Homes Plan is a pivotal moment in the UK’s transition to sustainable living, putting low-carbon heating at the heart of new residential properties and paving the way for a new era of sustainable heating. But to truly make the transition a success, government policy must go further - addressing the UK’s vast supply of existing housing, not just new builds.
“With 30 million homes already standing and only around 200,000 added each year, the biggest opportunity lies in upgrading what we already have. That means ensuring technologies can be integrated seamlessly and affordably together as one integrated ecosystem, helping households become genuinely future-ready.”
