Norfolk-based refrigeration manufacturer Williams has fast-tracked production of its new Medi+ two door cabinet to help meet vaccine storage needs.

Williams has acted with the requirement for reliable medical refrigeration likely to increase dramatically with the expected need to store the Covid-19 vaccines currently in development. The new cabinet, model WMP1295, offers a high volume storage capacity of 1295 litres (45.7 cubic feet).

The recently launched Medi+ range combines heavy duty construction with ultra-reliable temperature stability, thanks to Williams’ proven Medi+ Controller.  The Controller automatically monitors the fan, defrost and compressor ensuring that the critical storage temperature is never compromised.  This makes Medi+ refrigerators and freezers suitable for all types of medical storage, such as temperature-sensitive vaccines and other high-value pharmaceuticals.

The two-door WMP1295 is available as either a refrigerator or a freezer.  It has a stainless steel exterior and aluminium interior, providing a robust, durable and hygienic cabinet with easy to clean surfaces.  Standard features include anti-tilt tray slides for safety, a removable racking system for ease of cleaning, and barrel locked doors for added security.

The Medi+ two-door cabinet is an environment-friendly refrigerator using a natural hydrocarbon refrigerant that not only has low GWP (Global Warming Potential) and zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) but also delivers superior thermal efficiency, reducing energy use.  The cabinet features low heat, bright LED lighting, 80mm, high density foam injected insulation, and self-closing doors – all of which enhance its energy efficiency.

The two-door cabinet measures 1400mm wide by 854mm deep and 1960mm high.  The refrigerator temperature range can be set at from +2°C to +8°C, while the freezer has a range of -18°C to -22°C.

“The Medi+ WMP1295 has been engineered to deliver totally reliable, consistent temperature stability” says Malcolm Harling, Sales and Marketing Director at Williams.  “In fact, the system is so effective that it can even operate in ambient temperatures up to 43°C.”

The NHS and other public sector organisations have access to the Williams Medi+ range via the ESPO Contract 98 and M98 Frameworks.  The range features a choice of sizes to suit a wide range of applications, with single door cabinets and compact undercounter models available alongside the two-door WMP1295.
