Chemours is increasing its capacity to make new, low-GWP refrigerants as demand for environmentally friendly alternatives from manufacturers, contractors and end users increases. Existing refrigerants, such as R-404A, 507 and 134a, have sginificantly higher GWPs than the new generation of chemicals. For example, R-499A (Opteon XP40) has a GWP 67% lower than R-404A. R-513A (Opteon XP10) has a GWP which is 56% lower than R-134a.
Thierry F.J. Vanlancker, president of Chemours Fluoroproducts said:
"There is a significant shift within the HVACR industry toward offerings with low global warming potential. Opteon low GWP products from Chemours provide critical solutions in response to the regulatory and sustainability demands throughout the world. These solutions not only enable our customers to meet these stringent demands, but they also improve energy efficiency and thereby further reduce the overall climate impact.”
