Professor Eckhard Groll has been confirmed as the first keynote speaker for the Rankine 2020 conference – Advances in Cooling, Heating and Power Generation, taking place in Glasgow from July 26-29 next year.
An award-winning international speaker, Prof Groll is the William E. and Florence E. Perry Head of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University in the US. He is an acclaimed figure in the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump (RACHP) industry and is renowned for his research in fundamental thermal sciences as applied to advanced energy conversion systems, components, and their working fluids.
David MacQueen received the Kooltech Award for his contribution to the industry at the Scottish IOR Dinner in Glasgow.
Independent distributor MacQueen Air Conditioning was set up in Glasgow in 1980 and played a key role in helping Daikin’s growth in the UK. David MacQueen later served as a director of Daikin UK before leaving in 2008.
Turner (Dundee) apprentice John Thompson, a student at Glasgow Kelvin College, was named Apprentice of the Year.
