Customers at the Fujitsu open day
Fujitsu Air Conditioning UK announced a series of significant developments during an open day for customers and suppliers at its Elstree headquarters, covering chillers, enhanced warranties and increased rewards points for customers.
The new THERMICA air-cooled reversible heat pump chiller for high temperature hot water production signifies Fujitsu’s focus on low-GWP heat pump chillers and retrofit solutions. Featuring axial fans, scroll compressors and plate heat exchanger, this new addition operates on very low (<150) GWP R454C refrigerant. It is available in capacities of 20-29kW and operates in both cooling and heating down to an outside air temperature of -20°C. Hot water up to 65°C is reachable with outside air temperature down to 5°C, while up to 52°C is achievable with an outside air temperature of -20°C.
Fujitsu also revealed a key change to its warranty programme, with 7-year cover available across the RAC/PAC and VRF ranges with no minimum spend required. From January 1, 2023, the three-tier programme will comprise 3-year (standard, no training), 5-year (one complete Fujitsu authorised online training module per 24 months) and 7-year (as 5-year, plus one in-person training per 24 months).
Commercial manager Phil Deverick said: “We have made a big investment in training centres across the UK. Having a 3-tier warranty gives the flexibility for those who cannot attend in-person training, but still want to keep their current 5-year warranty, while the extended 7-year warranty is for the committed contractors willing to attend training in person.’’
In a further benefit to customers, the company’s popular Comfort Club rewards scheme is offering double points until the end of the year (October-December).
A prototype of Fujitsu’s WATERSTAGE monobloc heat pump was on display, with the product scheduled to launch in 2023.
There was a further update with details of the manufacturer’s new touchscreen controller, which allows rotation control of more than one indoor unit. The Multi System Control offers Lead Lag Setting, an easy-to-use function for room temperature control when using multiple indoor units, while reducing the burden placed on each unit and providing backup in case of a fault occurring. This feature is designed specifically for indoor units equipped with a Special Cooling function.

Guests were able to learn more about Fujitsu’s one-way blow VRF cassette, designed with ease of installation in mind and available in cooling capacities of 1.1-7.1kW. Also on show was the award-winning R32 ABY ceiling model, available in economy and standard options from 5.2kW to 12.1kW (the 13.4kW is only available as a standard option in 3ph).
A CIBSE CPD covering VRF Design and Application was held on the day, in line with Fujitsu’s extensive range of DX solutions.
Fujitsu also updated guests on its role as headline sponsor of the RACHPskills UK competition, which aims to support the next generation of engineers, while Climalife delivered a presentation on the future of refrigerants.
