Honeywell is working with Chinese controls and components manufacturer Sanhua to commercialise the use of its Solstice N41 (R466A) non-flammable lower GWP refrigerant in new and exisiting air conditioning equipment.
Due to be launched later this year, R466A is designed to replace R410A in stationary systems and has been heralded by Honeywell as a 'remarkable breakthrough'.
A significant number of European retail professionals who responded to a survey by Emerson said they were unaware of upcoming regulatory changes related to the phase down of HFCs as refrigerants.
The study showed that the retail industry was lagging behind schedule due to a lack of clarity in regulatory changes and replacement technologies available, with 40 per cent of respondents unaware of the changes and nearly half (44 per cent) either yet to make the shift, or unsure. However, 81 per cent of respondents viewed the shift from HFCs to natural refrigerants as a positive change.
