The national SkillFRIDGE finals take place in November and the students are getting a helping hand thanks to training courses from Toshiba.
The top students will get practical and theoretical training on residential and light commercial air conditioning systems, which covers installation, servicing and maintenance.
On completion, the students will get an industry-recognised Toshiba qualification, plus a training card with a 'unique registration number'. They can use the number on the commissioning sheets which shows proof of their competence.
Toshiba organised three training sessions for six students across the UK, taking place in Glasgow Kelvin College (13 Oct), Bath College (21 Oct) and Belfast at BL Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (31 Oct). The training will help the sutdents ahead of the SkillFRIDGE finals which happen at the NEC between 17th and 19th November.
Toshiba’s technical manager, Neil Wooldridge, is co-ordinating the training programme. He said:
“The training is designed to prepare students to work on the rigs that will be used in the competition. It covers everything they need to know in order to install, commission and service the equipment, including safe operation in terms of the environment and H&S.”
