'In the Night Garden Live' needed to keep its actors and audience comfortable with an air conditioning system which was both portable and able to overcome the heat from the show's lighting and the volume of people in the so-called 'Showdome', which housed the show.
Carrier used a high-efficiency Carrier 30RQS160 AquaSnap heat pump chiller coupled with two CRS110 air handling units to provide cool air in the Showdome. The chiller supplied water at 5deg C to the air handling units, each of which is capable of delivering up to 10,000sq m of cooled air per hour into the occupied space.
The solution took out hot air at the top using extractor fans to move it outside. The team used 600mm flexible ducting to deliver the cool air into the seating and stage zones.
Andrew Collier, creative director, Minor Entertainment, said: | “We aim to deliver an outstanding audience experience in every way and making sure the auditorium is comfortable is key.” |
