A heat wave in the country is putting pressure on energy supply in the country as Korean businesses and people turn up their air conditioning.
Chae Hee-bong, head of energy resource division at the ministry, stated,
"There is the need to cope with a possible problem in the supply of electricity as electricity demand hits all-time highs.
Stores that leave their doors open while their air conditioning is on face immediate warning and fines of around £350 until late August. If they continue to violate the ruling, the fine goes up to around £2,000 per store.
