Mexichem to distribute Klea 448A

Mexichem is to distribute Honeywell's R488A (Solstice N40) in the European Union and will sell the product as Klea 448A.
 
Sarah Hughes, Europe, Middle East, Africa and India commercial director for Mexichem’s Fluor Business Group, said: “We are committed to offering our European customers a product range which suits their needs today as well as safeguarding the future.

​"We identified Klea 448A as a product which would complement our current product offering and give our customers a product that meets the future requirements of the EU market.”

Honeywell F-Gas quota scheme

Honeywell has announced new measures designed to make to make it easier for companies to take full advantage of their European Union F-Gas refrigerant quota.

The manufacturer will buy excess quota and also help quota holders with imports into the EU, including customs clearance and delivery.

New call to halt illegal refrigerant trade

Air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pump bodies across Europe have joined forces to call for proper enforcement of the F-Gas Regulation, with stricter border controls to halt  the illegal import of refrigerants.

EPEE, representing the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump industry in Europe, and three leading associations in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration sector – EFCTC, AREA and ADC3R – say refrigerants should only be bouight from reputable sources in order to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.

Logic Certification (LCL) has launched a new F-Gas qualification designed in association with the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Board (ACRIB).

The level 3 Award is designed to give professional Refrigeration, Air Condition and Heat Pump (RACHP) engineers involved in the application of flammable gases, a better understanding of the Health & Safety regulations relating to the planning, installation, commissioning and servicing of RACHP equipment.

Greece calls for action on illegal refrigerants

Representatives of the Greek refrigeration and air conditioning industry have written to their government over concerns surrounding the illegal trafficking of fluorinated refrigerants.

It is not the first time that Greece has experienced problems with illegal imports and the industry believes soaring prices are leading to an escalation of the trade through its borders, with the impact potentially felt throughout Europe.

The application of Solstice L40X enables Ortolan to meet strict F-Gas environmental regulations and delivers the performance it requires at the lowest possible global warming potential (GWP), supporting the company’s environmental vision for the site.

Mexichem launches R407H

Refrigerant manufacturer and supplier Mexichem has launched Klea R407H as a lower GWP alternative to refrigerants including R404A and R507 in medium and low temperature applications.

The result of a partnership with Daikin, Klea 407H has a GWP of 1495 and in many cases can be used as a drop-in solution. Efficiency testing has shown it to have comparable COP to both R404A and other replacement products, including HFO blends.

Claude Blanc is retiring as president of ASERCOM, the Association of European Refrigeration Component Manufacturers, at the end of 2017 after more than four years in the role.

Concern at lack of understanding over HFC phase down

A significant number of European retail professionals who responded to a survey by Emerson said they were unaware of upcoming regulatory changes related to the phase down of HFCs as refrigerants. 

The study showed that the retail industry was lagging behind schedule due to a lack of clarity in regulatory changes and replacement technologies available, with 40 per cent of respondents unaware of the changes and nearly half (44 per cent) either yet to make the shift, or unsure. However, 81 per cent of respondents viewed the shift from HFCs to natural refrigerants as a positive change.

Tesco chooses Solstice N40 for 900 Thai stores

Thai retailer Tesco Lotus is converting 900 Express stores to Honeywell’s Solstice N40 refrigerant to reduce carbon emissions. It is the first implementation in Asia of Solstice N40, the  non-flammable replacement for R404A in the supermarket industry.

Tesco Group — the global parent company of Tesco Lotus in Thailand — is upgrading its supermarket refrigeration systems worldwide to lower-GWP refrigerants as part of its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint. By converting all of its 1,500 Express stores in Thailand over the next two years to Solstice N40 (R448A), the retail giant aims to achieve energy savings of up to 10%. This is equivalent to removing more than 67,000 cars from the road.

Makro stores retrofit to Solstice N40

Wholesale retailer Makro has replaced the high-GWP refrigerant R404A with Honeywell's Solstice N40 (R448A) at two of its Spanish stores.

Makro, part of the Metro Group, has more than 2,700 employees at 37 stores across Spain and boasts almost 1 million registered users.
