Women have just weeks left to embark on a rewarding career in plumbing by winning a place on a fully-accredited training course.

Leading heating, plumbing and air movement materials supplier TG Lynes is encouraging more females to consider a career on the tools through its Plumbing HERoes campaign.

TG Lynes, based in Enfield, has teamed up with leading training provider Choice Training to offer the winner a place on its City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 Domestic Plumbing & Heating course, worth more than £3,000.

Due to popular demand, the closing date to enter Plumbing HERoes has been extended to midnight on April 30. Enter here: https://www.tglynes.co.uk/page/campaigns/plumbing-heroes-2024

Andrew Ingram, Managing Director at TG Lynes, said: “We are very proud of our Plumbing HERoes campaign, which is going to give one woman an amazing opportunity to complete all the necessary training to start a brand new career in plumbing. Pipe dreams can come true!

“We have had some strong entries and are expecting many more before the application period closes on the last day of the month.

“The aim of our campaign, aside from giving our winner a huge life-boost, is to raise awareness of the quite staggering lack of females in plumbing. The latest statistics show that less than 3% of the workforce are women.

“Plumbing is an excellent career – and there remains a real shortage in hotspots across the country.”

The Level 2 Domestic Plumbing & Heating qualification is required to obtain a Plumbing JIB Card, which demonstrates proficiency.

The winner will receive training delivered flexibly both online and in-person at Choice Training’s base in Dagenham.

Candidates need to explain in no more than 200 words what they have been doing up to this point and why they want to enter the plumbing trade.

Any woman over the age 16 can enter. A team of judges will select a winner whose passion and determination catches the eye.

The winner will be able to start the course at their convenience. They will have three years to complete the training, but most people take between 10 and 12 months.

The course typically entails 15 days of practical training, though more can be booked in if required.

The course includes health and safety, plumbing processes, cold water systems, hot water systems, radiators and much more.
