The business supplies its specialist meals across the UK and employs 90 full and part time members of staff. Their biggest customer is the NHS and, because of increasing demand for frozen special diet meals, they recently decided to expand their freezer area with a new 4,000m3 coldstore.
H A Davie Managing Director, David Martin-Jones, also called on the skills and experience of national refrigeration and air conditioning wholesaler Dean & Wood, to use their in- house technical team to assist H A Davie design and select the right equipment for the job.
“After the initial site consultation it was clear that the end user and H A Davie were keen to install an energy efficient solution for their site at South Shields. Previous successful installations led us to recommend the Bitzer Ecostar condensing unit.
"This unit has worked well in previous projects where the end user has benefited from enhanced energy savings in comparison to their previous systems.”
“The proposed freezer store at The Punjab Kitchen was around 4000m3 and had high usage and turnover of stock factors.
“All parties were keen to install a reliable highly efficient set of equipment with energy savings being paramount. The specified area required a total of 76kW of cooling load at peak conditions. This meant five LHV6-4CES-9F3Y Bitzer Ecostars and five LU-VE F45HC1212E6 industrial coolers would be required to provide the design capacity.”
“We have designed and installed three coldstores for The Punjab Kitchen over the last three years. All have used Bitzer units. The most recent two freezer coldstores used seven Bitzer Ecostar units in total.”
