Cold Store Rentals is helping a specialist logistics firm to grow.

Arctic Express Global Logistics stores and transports time-critical and temperature sensitive food and pharmaceutical supplies which need to be kept chilled, frozen and ambient as well as at dual temp.

The company, which delivers items across the UK and Europe, decided to invest in improved cold room facilities which would enable it to continue its’ journey towards the next stage of growth – and turned to Cold Store Rentals for help. Cold Store Rentals has extensive experience working with specialist businesses in the pharmaceutical sector, including Caligor RX, Pharmafreight, Panalpina, Patheon and Phoenix Healthcare as well as the NHS.
Cold Store Rentals recently fitted new panels and a double leaf door to upgrade an existing +2 to +8 ˚C facility as well as providing a brand new 4.2m2 pharmaceutical cold room for the Northamptonshire-based business. Arctic Express has now decided to expand further with the installation of a new dual temp facility to regulate the temperature, meaning that it could be adjusted to +2 to +8 to function as a cold chain room or alternatively at controlled ambient temperatures of +15 to +25 ˚C.

Arctic Express worked with Cold Store Rentals’ specialist technicians to ensure that the stringent mapping requirements were met. All equipment is fully temperature mapped and calibrated in line with MHRA and GDP compliance requirements, ensuring that there are no hot or cold spots, which potentially could affect the 100% integrity of any items being stored or transported.

The new cold room was installed in two phases and features a specialist Zanotti packaged refrigeration system.
Arctic Express Director Andrea Wingrove said: "We decided to work with Cold Store Rentals as we feel that their capabilities, experience and industry knowledge – as well as their flexible approach – is an excellent match for our business.

“The new cold & ambient rooms will mean that we are able to offer temperature controlled storage, with a comprehensive range of services. For example, with the new cold and ambient storage facilities we can collect on a Friday in Europe; bring the items back to our warehouse, store securely and deliver to a customer first thing on a Monday morning, whereas previously we could only take items by delivering immediately. So this is great news for our business and our customers.”

Steve Prior, Managing Director of Cold Store Rentals, said: “We are delighted that Arctic Express Global Logistics selected us to work on the next stage of their expansion. We have a combined industry knowledge within our team of more than 125 years, specialising in the food, pharmaceutical and distribution markets and like us, Arctic Express are an ambitious firm looking to grow further.

“By combining our expertise in the installation of bespoke, modular build, cold & ambient rooms with the client’s need for a facility which has strict temperature controls, we have achieved a solution that provides a solid foundation for taking their logistics business even further forward in the future.”
